8 Classic Silence of the Lambs Quotes

by Aaron Seminoff | August 14, 2015

The Silence of the Lambs pretty much killed it at the Academy Awards in 1992. Best picture, best actor, best actress, best director…it’s hard to do better than that. It also won a bunch of different awards for best adapted screenplay (Ted Tally, from the 1988 novel by Thomas Harris). It’s no wonder that so many quotes from this unforgettable movie have earned a permanent place in popular culture. Here are some of the most memorable:

A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti. – Hannibal Lecter

It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again. – Buffalo Bill

Do not touch the glass. Do not approach the glass. You pass him nothing but soft paper - no pencils or pens. No staples or paperclips in his paper. Use the sliding food carrier, no exceptions. If he attempts to pass you anything, do not accept it. Do you understand me? – Dr. Chilton

You mean this is like a clue from a real murder case? Cool! -- Roden

I do wish we could chat longer, but... I'm having an old friend for dinner. Bye. – Hannibal Lecter

Believe me, you don't want Hannibal Lecter inside your head. – Jack Crawford

Your anagrams are showing, Doctor. Louis Friend? Iron sulfide, also known as fool’s gold. – Clarice Starling

I don't believe Lecter's even seen a woman in eight years. And, oh, are you ever his taste. So to speak. – Dr. Chilton
